BEIJING – In a triumphant return to form, Pakistan’s hockey team secured the bronze medal at the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, marking their first podium finish in eight years. The national team defeated South Korea 5-2 in the third-place playoff, delivering an outstanding performance.
Sufyan Khan and Hanan Shahid were the stars of the match, each scoring two goals, while Roman Khan added the fifth. Sufyan Khan’s stellar performance earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan narrowly missed a spot in the final, losing to China in the semifinals after a tense penalty shootout, 2-0. Despite that setback, the team rallied to clinch third place.
Additionally, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced the nominations for its prestigious FIH Stars Awards. Pakistan’s Sufyan Khan has been nominated in the Rising Star Player category, a recognition of his impressive talent and contributions to the team.
This bronze medal not only highlights Pakistan’s resurgence in international hockey but also serves as a promising sign for the future of the sport in the country.
