No new housing projects in Rawalpindi as RDA takes action in five Tehsils

ISLAMABAD – Amid the rising trend in housing projects on agricultural land, the Rawalpindi Development Authority enforced a ban on new private housing schemes in Rawalpindi, Taxila, Kallar Syedan, Gujarkhan, and Kahuta.

The stern rules aim to promote sustainable development and protect valuable agricultural land, the development authority said as the ban will remain in effect until RDA’s Pre-Urban Site Development Plan is fully approved.

In effort to foster environmentally responsible urban growth, the corporation instructed developers and investors to stop land purchases for new housing projects within these regions. Developers are also directed from subdividing land for investor-driven housing schemes without prior approval from the authority.

Under Pre-Urban Site Development Plan, RDA will identify various zones, including agricultural areas, residential districts, green spaces, and regions sensitive to environmental changes.

The authority is also prepared to enforce strict penalties against those who violate this ban, which could include heavy fines, legal action, and demolition of unauthorized constructions.

RDA emphasizes its commitment to balancing urban expansion with environmental preservation, focusing on eco-friendly residential development while safeguarding fertile agricultural land and sensitive ecological areas.
