The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has constituted a three-member committee to hold talks with various political parties about the formation of the next federal government.
The committee comprises Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and party’s senior deputy conveners Mustafa Kamal and Farooq Sattar.
An MQM-P spokesperson said the body would negotiate with political leaders for power sharing.
A few days ago, the MQM- leadership had said that it would take federal ministries in the coalition government which would not only benefit Sindh’s urban areas but also the entire country.
On February 11, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and MQM-P had reached a consensus on basic points for political cooperation in the best “interest of the nation and country”.
PML-N Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb had said an in-principle agreement was reached between PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and the MQM leadership in a meeting.
“They vowed to work together for the interest of the country and the nation,” Marriyum had said.
On the invitation of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, the MQM-P delegation led by Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui visited Nawaz’s residence at Jati Umra, Lahore.
