Liam Payne’s death, Argentinian officials rule out suicide

Liam Payne didn’t commit suicide.

Three weeks after the death of the former One Direction member, prosecutors in Argentina have formally ruled out suicide as a cause of death and charged three individuals in connection with the incident.

The 31-year-old singer, who passed away on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of his Buenos Aires hotel room, sustained multiple injuries and external bleeding.

However, an autopsy confirmed that the injuries were not due to self-harm nor the result of any direct physical altercation.

Prior to the fall, local newspaper La Nación reported that hotel staff at Casa Sur had contacted police, citing concerns over “an aggressive man that could’ve been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

A toxicology report later confirmed the presence of multiple substances in Payne’s system at the time of his death.

While the three suspects have not been publicly identified, they face charges of “abandonment of a person followed by death” and “providing and facilitating the use of narcotics.” Although they are barred from leaving the country, authorities have not placed anyone under arrest at this time.

Among the individuals charged, one, as per Deadline, is reported to have had a close working relationship with the singer, while another was a staff member at the Buenos Aires hotel where he stayed.

The third suspect is alleged to have provided drugs to Payne prior to his death.
