King Charles III in tears after receiving heartbreaking news from Italy

King Charles and Queen Camilla are heartbroken after receiving a sad news from Italy just weeks after their four-day State Visit to the country.

Pope Francis, the first non-European pontiff in nearly 1,300 years, breathed his last jus days after his final meeting with the British King.

The announcement came as a shock to King Charles and the royal family and others as the pope had made a high-profile appearance in public just a day before his passing.

Charles, 76, and his wife Camilla, 77, met Pope Francis during day three of their to The Republic of Italy on April 09, 2025 in Vatican City.

“The King and Queen are in tears after receiving the heartbreaking news from Italy as they were delighted to see Pop regaining health,” a palace insider has revealed.

He was the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church. He was 88, and had recently survived a serious bout of double pneumonia.

King Charles has released his personal statement, expressing his sadness over the demise of Pope Francis.

Soon after the their unforgettable meeting with the Pop, Buckingham Palace released a statement, saying: “Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla this afternoon had a private meeting with His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican.” 

It continued: “Their Majesties were delighted The Pope was well enough to host them — and to have had the opportunity to share their best wishes in person.”

Pope Francis invited the royal couple for a private audience as the official state visit was postponed and their meeting happened at the Vatican. Gifts were exchanged during the 20-minute meeting, and the Pope wished the royals a happy 20th wedding anniversary.

Francis reportedly appointed nearly 80% of the cardinal electors who will choose the next pope, increasing the possibility that his successor will continue his policies.
