Keira Knightley shared the sweet and funny story that led her to write her first children’s book, ILove You Just the Same.

The actress appeared on The Graham Norton Show where she spoke about how her eldest daughter, Edie, once made a very unusual request.

The 40-year-old actress said that Edie, who struggled to sleep when she was younger, would wake up every morning to a new drawing made by her mother. 

One day, Edie asked Keira to draw a bird taking away her little sister, Delilah. 

However, laughing about the moment, Keira told the audience, “I thought I had better write a book so I could get the baby back.”

Keira shares her two daughters, Edie and Delilah, with her husband James Righton. 

She also opened up about how her dyslexia has shaped the way she learns her acting lines. “I draw a lot. I am dyslexic, so I learn my lines by listening to them, and while I am listening, I draw. 

The more detailed the drawing, the better the lines go into my head,” she explained.

During the interview, the actress also talked about how people still approach her to discuss Bend It Like Beckham.

She said, “It’s mainly little girls. They love it because women’s football has become such a huge thing now.”

Even though her daughters haven’t watched the film yet, Keira said they prefer to watch real football games, adding that being part of a movie that continues to inspire girls around the world still feels “amazing.”
