‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ first guests after return revealed

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is back on air after nearly a week-long pause, and the first lineup of guests has now been revealed.

The late-night show’s return comes after ABC pulled it indefinitely following controversy over comments Kimmel made about Charlie Kirk’s killer, which prompted criticism from FCC chair Brendan Carr.

Kimmel is set to welcome Glen Powell and Sarah McLachlan for his first show back, as per Deadline.

Powell, who has been making waves in Hollywood, is currently promoting his new Hulu sports comedy series Chad Powers.

The six-part project, which he co-created and stars in, also features Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Mattfeld and Wynn Everett.

The show is set to premiere on September 30.

Meanwhile, McLachlan will take the stage as the night’s musical guest. She is currently promoting her new album Better Broken and the ABC News documentary Lilith Fair: Building A Mystery

Directed by Ally Pankiw and released on September 21, the documentary explores the legacy of the female-led festival McLachlan founded in the late 1990s.

McLachlan recently stood by Kimmel after Disney pulled the show, choosing not to perform at the premiere of her documentary in solidarity.

Addressing the crowd, she reflected on the challenges artists face when freedoms are under pressure.

“It’s a gift for all of us to see [this film], but also I’ve grappled with being here tonight and around what to say about the present situation that we are all faced with, the stark contraction to the many advances we’ve made watching the insidious erosion of women’s rights, of trans and queer rights, the muzzling of free speech,” she said.

She added, “I think we’re all fearful for what comes next, and none of us know, but what I do know is that I have to keep pushing forward as an artist, as a woman to find a way through… I believe we all need to work towards a softening to let in the possibility of a better way, because I see music as a bridge to our shared humanity, to finding common ground.”

Other guests lined up this week include Ethan Hawke, Lisa Ann Walter, Peyton Manning, Oscar Nuñez, and musical performers Yungblud and Alex G.
