Apple is gearing up to unveil its much-awaited iPhone 17 series in September 2025, and new images circulating online may offer a glimpse of what’s to come.
These purported leaked images show significant design and feature upgrades across all models, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a potential new variant, the iPhone 17 Air.
According to insiders and tech enthusiasts, all models in the iPhone 17 series are expected to come equipped with 120Hz ProMotion displays, marking a notable shift from the iPhone 16 lineup, where high refresh rate screens were reserved only for the Pro versions.
Additionally, LTPO OLED technology is likely to be standard across all variants, bringing Always-On Display functionality to even the base models.
Design changes: A return to aluminum?
A key design change seen in the leaked images shows Apple potentially abandoning the titanium frames seen in the iPhone 15 and 16 Pro models.
Instead, all iPhone 17 variants (except the Air version) could feature aluminum bodies, aligning with Apple’s push towards more sustainable production practices.
The iPhone 17 Air, in contrast, may feature a hybrid titanium-aluminum body for a balance of durability and weight.
The rear camera bump also seems to be getting a major redesign.
The leaked images hint at a shift from the current squircle camera bump to a rectangular, aluminum-encased module. This change could indicate a more streamlined look and better protection for the cameras.
Camera upgrades: Bigger sensors and Advanced zoom
Photography enthusiasts will likely be pleased with the front and rear camera upgrades expected in the iPhone 17 series. The front-facing camera is reported to be upgraded from 12MP to 24MP, providing clearer selfies and better video calls.
The rear cameras are also receiving significant improvements.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max may come equipped with a 48MP tetraprism telephoto lens, which would offer advanced zoom capabilities.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air, despite featuring a single 48MP wide-angle lens, is expected to deliver impressive image quality, thanks to Apple's computational imaging advancements.
Performance boost: A19 chipset across the Lineup
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air are rumored to feature Apple’s new A19 processor, providing faster performance and improved power efficiency.
The Pro variants will likely be powered by the A19 Pro chip, which is expected to deliver even better speed and capabilities, particularly for demanding tasks such as gaming and video editing.
Additionally, reports suggest that RAM across the lineup could be increased, with three of the four models offering 12GB of RAM—up from 8GB in previous models.
This upgrade should result in smoother multitasking and faster app performance.
Pricing and Availability
While pricing for the iPhone 17 series is still speculative, it is expected to follow a similar structure to previous years, with the standard iPhone 17 priced lower than the Pro variants.
The new iPhone 17 Air, if confirmed, may be positioned as an affordable option for users who want flagship features without the premium price tag.
