Light rain graced various parts of Lahore, including Gulberg, Jail Road, Canal Road, and Ferozepur Road, providing much-needed relief from the recent hot weather. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecasted more rain in most areas of Punjab over the next 24 hours.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, the ongoing spell of monsoon rains is expected to continue until September 4. Cities likely to experience rainfall include Lahore, Kasur, Narowal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, and Jhang. Additionally, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali are also expected to receive showers.

Intermittent rain is anticipated in the southern districts of Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Layyah, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. The PDMA has assured that the water flow in all rivers and canals across Punjab remains at normal levels, and the situation in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan’s hill torrents is also stable.

As of now, Mangla Dam is at 79% capacity, while Tarbela Dam has reached 100% capacity. PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia has stated that there is currently no risk of flooding in Punjab’s rivers, and all relevant institutions are on high alert.

The Met Department has predicted that Islamabad and its surrounding areas will remain partly cloudy, with the possibility of rain during the evening or night. Heavy rain is expected in parts of the Potohar region in the evening, while rainfall is also expected in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali.

The weather is anticipated to remain hot and dry in most districts of Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan. However, rain is likely in select areas, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, and Peshawar, among others.

Rain is also expected in Balochistan, with Zhob, Musakhel, Shirani, Barkhan, Loralai, Kohlu, Sibbi, Quetta, Chaman, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, and Ziarat on alert. In Sindh, areas such as Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, and Mirpur Khas may also experience rainfall.
