Hard work needed to boost trade: Turkiye CG | The Express Tribune

KARACHI:

Turkiye Consul General Cemal Sangu has called for promoting bilateral trade while exploring further opportunities of partnership.

He said although both Turkiye and Pakistan had been cooperating in many fields of trade and economy, the existing trade volume was really low, which required far more hard work from the business communities of both sides.

“We say we have brotherly ties but it doesn’t reflect in our trade. Keeping in view Pakistan and Turkiye’s population of 240 million and 85 million, respectively, I can confidently say we have huge potential and opportunities not only in Pakistan but also in Turkiye,” the envoy said while speaking at a meeting during his visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

“Hence, the private sector, being the backbone of economy, should come forward to improve trade and economic relations.”

He said last year Turkiye exports stood at around $256 billion, of which 55% of shipments went to EU countries.
