Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Downs joked that their outfit choice was born out of necessity rather than meticulous planning. With Hacks season five currently in production, the pair admitted they barely had time to think about red carpet fashion.
“We’ve been shooting season five and didn’t really have time to shop or pull looks,” Downs shared. “So we just borrowed from friends.”
Stalter leaned into the joke, teasing that a “very close friend” generously loaned her the dress. “I’m not naming names,” she laughed, adding that it fit “like a glove.” Downs chimed in, noting that having friends with similar sizes makes life and last-minute styling much easier.
The homage didn’t stop at clothing. Downs accessorised with a black sling bag shaped like a ping-pong bat, while Stalter completed her look with a studded necklace featuring a bold cross pendant mirroring the couple’s attention to detail.
