Google’s Gemini AI app may get a major visual revamp | The Express Tribune

New scrollable feed, image tools spotted as Google experiments with Gemini redesign

Google is reportedly preparing a significant overhaul of its Gemini AI app, shifting it away from its current chatbot-style interface towards a more visually engaging experience.

According to tech crunch, the redesign, first spotted in the app’s code by Android Authority, introduces a scrollable feed with suggested prompts paired with striking images. The revamped home screen features shortcut buttons for tasks like “Create Image” and “Deep Research,” followed by a series of prompts aimed at inspiring users.

Examples include playful ideas such as “Teleport me to deep space,” “Give me a vintage or grunge look,” and “Turn my drawing into a storybook.” Other prompts suggest practical uses, like brainstorming with Gemini’s “Live” feature or receiving a daily news roundup.

Google has yet to confirm the rollout, with a spokesperson saying there is “no announcement to be made just yet.”

If launched, the update could help Gemini compete more directly with OpenAI, whose minimalist ChatGPT app starts with a blank screen. The move also comes after the success of OpenAI’s video editing app Sora, which recently topped the US App Store.

The revamp would likely build on consumer enthusiasm for Google’s Nano Banana AI image model, which pushed Gemini to the No. 1 spot on the App Store charts in September before being overtaken by Sora.
