Autopsy reports reveal cause of Gene Hackman, Betsy Arakawa’s dog death

Gene Hackman’s ‘mysterious’ death along with his wife’s and dog’s on February 26 left everyone stunned.

Though any ‘foul play’ was ruled out immediately, the deaths were investigated owing to the uncommon conditions their bodies were found in.

Autopsy results showed that Behind Enemy Lines star had died of heart disease while his longtime partner had died of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.

One week after the couple’s causes of death were revealed, the findings into the dog’s passing have been made public.

A report by New Mexico Department of Agriculture identified the cause of Australian Kelpie mix’s death to be severe dehydration or starvation.

The pet which was found dead in a closed crate near the classical pianist’s body had “very small amounts of hair and bile”.

A veterinary pathologist mentioned in the report that “the stomach was almost empty” and “the large intestine had only “small amounts of green, thick and pasty feces that was mostly hair”.

The report further stated that Zinna, the deceased dog, showed no signs of “infectious disease” or trauma that could have been the reason for her death.

For the unversed, the ‘Unforgiven’ alum’s fortune has become a matter of dispute for his family.
