Ali Amin Gandapur has announced his decision to step down from the post of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on the directives of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, Confirming the decision, Gandapur said he would fully support the new chief minister and continue working for the province under the guidance of the party’s leadership.
“I am resigning from the chief ministership on the orders of the founder of PTI,” Gandapur said, adding, “I will fully support the new CM in every way possible.”
The decision comes following internal consultations within the PTI leadership, which recently resolved to bring changes in KP’s provincial administration to strengthen governance and align it with party objectives.
Party sources have indicated that the PTI founder personally directed Gandapur to resign to facilitate a smooth transition of leadership and ensure that the party’s provincial government continues to operate with stability and focus.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has confirmed that Sohail Afridi has been nominated as the new chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following Gandapur’s resignation. Afridi, who hails from the Khyber district, is seen as a unifying choice aimed at maintaining balance among different factions within PTI’s provincial ranks.
