Pakistan has reaffirmed unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of its people. The resolve was expressed by Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan during his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Friday.
The Spokesperson said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies conduct targeted operations in border regions to safeguard its citizens from terrorist threats particularly those posed by terrorist groups such as Fitna-al-Khwarij.
He said these operations are meticulously planned, based on credible and actionable intelligence and executed with precession.
Shafqat Ali Khan said Pakistan respects the sovereignty of Afghanistan and remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation with our neighbor to address the shared challenges of terrorism.
He said Pakistan has consistently prioritized diplomacy even in the face of persistent threats emanating from terrorists hideouts and sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.
The Spokesperson urged the Afghan authorities to ensure that their territory is not used as a launch pad for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
He emphasized that groups such as Fitna-al-Khwarij represents a common threat to the peace and stability of our region, necessitating collective actions to counter their malign influence. We remain dedicated to resolving the challenges through dialogue and constructive engagements.
Pakistan believes that both the nations share a mutual interest in combating terrorism and restoring stability. We believe that Afghanistan should be able to reclaim its sovereignty and terror groups like Fitna-al-Khawarij need to be combated robustly. He said terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan are a serious issue which needs to be addressed by the Afghanistan.
Responding to a question about release of water by India in different rives Pakistan, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said Indian side shared some information about the flood in different rivers. However, it is not as in detail as it was in the past. Besides, the established channel of Indus Water Commissioner has not been used.
The Spokesperson reiterated that India should full comply with all the provisions of Indus Water Treaty.
About Palestine, Shafqat Ali Khan said Pakistan strongly condemns the deadly Israeli strike on Al Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in Gaza which claimed the lives of at least twenty-one individuals including four journalists and a rescue worker.
This unconscionable and heinous attack on a medical facility as well as the continued targeting of civilians and journalists represents a grave violation of international human rights and humanitarian law and freedom of press as well.
