EPFO extended the deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar seeding with bank accounts to June 30, 2025, essential for ELI scheme benefits.
This extension is crucial for beneficiaries who wish to avail themselves of benefits under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the deadline for Universal Account Number (UAN) activation and Aadhaar seeding with bank accounts to June 30, 2025, according to a circular issued on May 30. The previous deadline was November 30. This extension is crucial for beneficiaries who wish to avail themselves of benefits under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme.
Why UAN Activation and Aadhaar Seeding Is Important
The UAN is a 12-digit unique identifier allotted to EPF members, enabling them to manage their Provident Fund accounts across employers. Activating the UAN is necessary to access online services such as checking balances, withdrawing funds, updating KYC details, and initiating PF transfers.
Moreover, seeding Aadhaar with the bank account linked to the UAN is mandatory to receive direct benefits under schemes like ELI. Without this linkage, members may be ineligible for government incentives and seamless PF transactions.
What is the ELI Scheme?
Announced in the Union Budget 2024-25, the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme aims to boost formal employment by offering financial incentives to employers and employees. With a budget outlay of Rs 2 lakh crore, the scheme targets over four crore youth across the country by encouraging enrolment in the formal workforce.
How to Activate UAN Online
Beneficiaries can activate their UAN through the EPFO Member Sewa Portal using the following steps:

- Enter details such as UAN, Aadhaar, date of birth, and mobile number.

EPFO 3.0 Soon
The EPFO is gearing up to launch Version 3.0 of its digital platform, aimed at delivering faster and more user-friendly services. Expected features include:
- ATM-based PF withdrawals
- Auto-claim settlements
- Real-time digital corrections

The move is part of the government’s broader strategy to digitise and simplify access to social security benefits for millions of Indian workers.
