On Instagram, director James Gunn has unveiled the first official photo of David Corenswet as Superman.
He simply captioned the post with, “Get ready. #Superman,” accompanied by the release date.
The eagerly anticipated film, set to premiere on July 11, 2025, marks a significant reboot of the Superman saga.
David Corenswet, known for his role in Netflix’s Hollywood and the film Pearl, steps into the superhero’s cape, joining a list of actors who have portrayed the Man of Steel, from Christopher Reeve to Henry Cavill.
The movie, tentatively titled Superman: Legacy, also features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as the notorious villain Lex Luthor.
In a statement to Variety, Gunn mentioned his vision for a Superman who embodies kindness and compassion, someone who audiences would instinctively want to embrace.
He said, “the next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he’s also an alien, It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug.”
