As Manchester City faces a difficult Premier League season, losing nine of their last 13 matches, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed confidence in Pep Guardiola’s side bouncing back.
Speaking after receiving awards at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, Ronaldo, a five-time Champions League winner, not only backed City to recover but also offered advice to their players.
“Teams always have their good and bad moments. Now Manchester City have gone through a bad moment, but they will come back,” Ronaldo said.
“Guardiola is a very smart coach. He knows where the problem is coming from. They will be there like always.”
He also advised City’s players, saying, “I would tell them they have to show more and not talk now. The great players know where the problem is.”
While acknowledging City’s struggles, Ronaldo also turned his attention to one of his former clubs, Real Madrid, praising their consistent success in the Champions League. Despite early challenges this season, he backed Madrid to shine once again.
“You can never give Madrid up for dead. I would bet on them winning the Champions League again because all the other teams are scared when they play Madrid at the Bernabeu,” Ronaldo said.
As City continues to grapple with injuries and a stretched squad, they will face Leicester City on Sunday, with hopes of regaining form. However, City’s pursuit of a fifth-straight Premier League title seems increasingly unlikely, as they sit 14 points behind leaders Liverpool and seventh in the table, six points off a Champions League spot.
