Brad Pitt makes new demand amid ongoing Angelina Jolie legal battle

Brad Pitt ask for private information in Angelina Jolie legal battle

Brad Pitt has submitted new paperwork in his ongoing legal dispute with ex-wife Angelina Jolie, asking a judge to require her to hand over a series of private emails connected to the sale of her stake in their former French winery, Château Miraval.

The actors have been locked in a legal back-and-forth over the property since February 2022.

In the latest filing, obtained by Page Six, Pitt requested access to Jolie’s email exchanges with her business manager Terry Bird, British publicists Arminka Helic and Chloe Dalton, and two financial advisers.

Pitt pointed to Jolie’s previous declaration, in which she acknowledged having regular discussions with Bird about many areas of her work life — including legal matters.

He argued these communications should be available for discovery, describing them as “brainstorming sessions between non-lawyers.”

According to the filing, he maintained that even if those conversations occurred alongside legal guidance, “the fact that these brainstorming sessions may have followed or preceded advice from a lawyer on the same general topic or a related topic does not shield them from discovery.”

So far, Pitt claims Jolie has turned over just one internal email referencing the sale at the center of their dispute.

Pitt argued the missing communications could include Bird’s conversations about the terms of Jolie’s sale of her Miraval interest to the Stoli Parties, calling it “the key transaction at issue in this litigation.”

Pitt also asked the court to deny Jolie’s request that he pay her $33,000 in attorneys’ fees.

Jolie’s team has argued that because she warned him to withdraw his previous motion, he should be responsible for the legal costs tied to opposing it.

In her Oct. 9 filing, her lawyers said she repeatedly urged Pitt to drop the request and noted she had made it clear she would seek fees if the motion was rejected.

They said she had “been forced to incur” substantial expenses in responding.

Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, pushed back on Pitt’s latest demand, stating in a comment to Page Six that the actor was attempting to access protected conversations.

He said, “[This] once again confirms that this lawsuit is the manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control Angelina.”

Pitt initially took legal action after Jolie sold her share of Château Miraval to the wine division of the Stoli Group.

He has argued she made the deal without the consent they previously agreed on. Jolie has maintained she did not need his approval.
