In a bid to win the artificial intelligence race, Apple is reportedly bringing the “biggest” software update to its new iOS 18 set with generative AI technologies.
During the launch of its new iPad Pro and iPad Air, Apple subtly hinted at an upcoming AI overhaul, which is expected to be unveiled next month at its World Wide Developers Conference.
According to the BBC’s Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly working on integrating AI technologies with its own cloud infrastructure. This means AI features will not be in some apps that can be deleted, but rather will be inbuilt into Apple devices.
Furthermore, the smartphone company is allegedly partnering up with Google or OpenAI to bring these AI features, which will work similarly to ChatGPT and Gemini.
In addition, iPhone apps such as Siri, Photos, Apple Music, the Notes app, and more will also get generative AI features.
The Notes app will get suggest and edit capabilities, where it will be able to correct spelling and grammar and change text to make it sound better.
The Photos app will receive Galaxy AI-like features where users will be able to remove or add backgrounds using AI.
Similarly, Siri will reportedly be able to chat rather than just respond, while Apple Music will offer services such as auto-generated playlists and more.
