Apple plans new charges, restrictions for third-party software downloads – SUCH TV

When Apple begins to permit third-party software downloads outside of its App Store, it intends to impose additional costs and limitations, The Wall Street Journal revealed.

The announcement was made months after the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which was implemented by the European Union to reduce the market power of large technology corporations and facilitate consumers’ ability to switch between rival services.

By March 7, all Big Tech companies must adhere to the DMA.

According to the WSJ article, Apple’s plan will enable customers to download software onto their iPhones for the first time without utilizing the App Store; however, it will only be applicable in Europe.

On Monday, Meta, the social media business, claimed that users will have more options for how they use its services, and it also revealed steps to comply with the act.
