FIA arrests Deedar’s husband in fraud case; actress accused of aiding alleged human smuggling network
Punjabi film actress Deedar and her husband have been booked on charges of fraud, including alleged involvement in human smuggling, according to news reports. Her husband, Jahanzeb, was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Lahore for reportedly collecting large sums of money from individuals by promising to help them settle abroad.
Police reports state that the suspect resisted during the investigation led by Inspector Abdullah Kiani. Sources within the FIA further claim that during the raid, eight guards attempted to obstruct the arrest.
Authorities also suggest that Deedar was involved in these activities, allegedly operating offices in Lahore and in Islamabad’s G-11 sector to facilitate her fraudulent operations. The local authorities are currently searching for her whereabouts.
Punjabi film actress Sobia Idress, often referred to by her stage name Deedar, is a prominent comedian, actress, and dancer in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. She is also the sister of the well-known performer, Nargis and they have appeared together in various dramas. Following the recent allegations, she has stayed out of the public eye.
Jahanzeb’s residence was raided after his reported resistance to authorities. He was also wanted by the FIA’s Islamabad zone and is accused of defrauding thousands of people. Police estimate that the couple may have earned around Rs250 million through the alleged scam.
Investigations are ongoing, while several citizens have reportedly submitted petitions to the Army Chief, seeking further action in the matter.
