Kristen Stewart has officially learned that mixing marriage and movies can actually work — especially when your wife happens to be a very good director.

Stewart, 36, stars alongside Alia Shawkat in The Wrong Girls, a new comedy directed by her wife, Dylan Meyer.

The film hits theaters Friday, August 14, marking the first time Meyer has directed Stewart on screen.

And according to Stewart, there was no awkward “director-wife” drama on set.

“Dylan’s really good at it,” Stewart told People magazine, praising Meyer’s filmmaking instincts and her ability to surround herself with the right people.

“I think if you have a movie in you and it needs to come out and you communicate well and you know how to pick your people,” Stewart said, Meyer “really knows how to pick ‘em, I’ll tell you…!” She laughs, “Sorry, that was really dumb.”

Stewart and Meyer, who co-founded Nevermind Pictures, married in April 2025, after filming had already wrapped. Stewart says the production quickly became a supportive environment for Meyer and her filmmaking family.

“It was the f—ing easiest thing,” the Twilight alum said. “And yeah, she’s pretty prolific, man. She’s just got so many movies in her. I just can’t wait to see what happens.”

Meyer admits Stewart was actually the person who pushed her to turn The Wrong Girls into her feature directorial debut.

“She was just really like, ‘I really want to play this part, and I really believe you’re the person to direct it,’” Meyer recalled.

And directing her wife? Apparently, that was easy too.

“There’s something really a lot easier about communicating with someone you know very well as an actor because you have all the same points of reference… And then I think she’s a really good actor! So that also just made it easy to do.”

With LaKeith Stanfield, Kate McKinnon, Geena Davis and more joining the cast, The Wrong Girls arrives in theaters Friday.
