Dylan Walsh, who plays David Hollander, father to Hudson Williams’s Shane Hollander, on Heated Rivalry, has landed himself in hot water after accidentally spilling season 2 details in a paid Cameo video. 

In the clip, recorded for a fan, Walsh let slip more than intended: “Getting ready to go back up to Canada and shoot some more episodes… I think we’re doing 12 this time.”

The remark caught fans off guard, since showrunner Jacob Tierney had previously said he had no plans to expand beyond the show’s original six-episode format, telling press at the time, “I don’t need to do 10. I would always rather tighten the belt than get loosey-goosey.” 

Once the video began circulating widely on social media, it was pulled from Cameo, and Walsh’s account is now listed as unavailable for new video requests until August 2027. 

His profile currently carries a brief explanation: “Stepping away because a video went viral that got me in trouble.”

Representatives for Walsh, 62, and the show’s producers have not commented further on the slip-up. 

The moment carries some unintentional irony for fans of the source material, season 2 is set to adapt The Long Game, the sixth installment in Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novel series, in which a plot point involves a character accidentally leaking sensitive information in a video for a Cameo-style app that then goes viral. 

Fans have since taken to social media half-jokingly campaigning for Cameo to reinstate Walsh’s account, with some dubbing him “our real life Hayden Pike,” a nod to the novel’s own leak-prone character.

Heated Rivalry follows hockey stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, played by Williams and Connor Storrie, through a years-long secret relationship as they navigate fame, rivalry and their feelings for each other both on and off the ice. 

The first season debuted in November 2025 to strong buzz, and was quickly renewed by Bell Media’s Crave, with HBO Max carrying it in the U.S.
