Pakistan’s Muhammad Zubair has been crowned the Tekken 8 world champion after a dominant 5-0 victory over South Korea’s LowHigh in the grand final of the Esports World Cup in Paris.
The Pakistani star’s path to glory was nothing short of remarkable. Zubair entered the tournament through the Last Chance Qualifier before advancing to the main event, where he defeated fellow countryman and Tekken legend Arsalan Ash in a thrilling 5-4 semifinal showdown.
Zubair is awarded a $250,000 winner’s prize from the event’s $1 million total prize pool. The tournament had a three-phase format, starting with group stages, followed by playoffs, and culminating in a single-elimination bracket.
The runner-up, LowHigh, representing DRX, took home $130,000. Third place was secured by Australia’s Yagami, who secured $70,000, while Arsalan Ash, representing Twisted Minds, finished fourth with $50,000.
Esports World Cup in Paris was attended by some of the best Tekken players in the world, with participants coming from all around the globe. Moreover, the tournament doubled up as a qualifier for TWT Finals 2026 and the winner was rewarded with 1,000 club points.
