ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has delegated the authority to approve solar power systems of up to 25 kilowatts (kW) to electricity distribution companies (DISCOs).
According to a notification issued by Nepra, the regulator has amended the Solar Regulations 2026, simplifying the approval process for small-scale solar consumers.
Under the revised regulations, consumers installing solar systems with a capacity of up to 25kW will no longer be required to obtain prior approval from Nepra.
Instead, the relevant electricity distribution company will have the authority to grant approval directly, the notification said.
