David Beckham joins oldest royal at Wimbledon

David Beckham and the Duke of Kent attended day one of The Championships Wimbledon 2026 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday.

Although Beckham and the Duke of Kent, the oldest-living member of the royal family, were seated in the same box, no exchanges took place between them in the clips that surfaced online.

It was the second public appearance this month for Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, who is the first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

He was last seen earlier this month on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during Trooping the Color parade, which marks King Charles’s official birthday.

Beckham is known as a lifelong admirer of the royal family and is often seen in gatherings with King Charles, Prince William and other senior members.

He is one of Britain’s most celebrated soccer players and was knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle last year , recognising his decades-long contribution to sport and charitable causes.

The 50-year-old former England soccer captain received the honour , more than 20 years after he was awarded a separate royal honour recognising his contribution to football.
