ISLAMABAD – Ahead of the anticipated second round of US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad, authorities have imposed a high-level security alert, sealing the city’s Red Zone and extended Red Zone.
The Islamabad Police issued a ten-point traffic advisory, restricting the entry of heavy vehicles into the city.
The Expressway from Korral to Zero Point has been closed, and alternative routes have been suggested for commuters.
Traffic along Srinagar Highway may be temporarily stopped at various intervals. Residents of Sectors G and F in Rawalpindi are advised to use Margalla Road to reach Ninth Avenue.
Traffic on Faisal Avenue will be redirected from Zero Point toward Ninth Avenue, while the stretch from Zero Point to Korral Chowk is closed, with Srinagar Highway recommended as an alternative.
Heavy traffic traveling from Peshawar to Lahore on GT Road will be diverted to the Motorway via Taxila. Vehicles on GT Road from Lahore are to use Chakri Interchange via Rawat, and heavy traffic exiting the Motorway at Chakri Interchange will proceed via Chack Baeli and Rawat back to GT Road.
Authorities emphasized that these measures are temporary and intended to ensure smooth conduct of the high-profile diplomatic talks.
