Sindh to provide Rs2,000 monthly to motorcyclists amid rising petrol prices

KARACHI – The Sindh government has announced that each motorcycle owner in the province will receive Rs2,000 per month in response to soaring petrol prices.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah explained that petrol is unlikely to be available at lower rates at pumps, so the government will directly transfer the amount to registered motorcycle owners. Applications for the scheme will be processed within two to three days, with motorcycles linked to CNICs for verification.

In addition, the provincial government will waive transfer fees for motorcycle ownership. Motorcyclists are encouraged to transfer vehicles to their own names, and the subsidy will be provided at Rs100 per liter of fuel. Transfers are expected to begin 15 days after registration, with Rs2,000 disbursed to each eligible rider.

The Chief Minister also highlighted relief measures for small farmers, setting wheat prices at Rs3,500 per maund and providing Rs1,500 per acre to support those affected by rising diesel costs. About 2 million acres of small farmers are expected to benefit from this initiative, while larger landowners will not receive this support.

Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized that these steps are part of the government’s effort to mitigate the financial impact of global fuel price increases on ordinary citizens and small-scale farmers.
