OGRA Warns of Strict Action Against Illegal Hoarding of Petroleum Products – SUCH TV

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has warned of strict action against individuals or groups involved in the illegal hoarding or storage of petroleum products at unauthorized locations.

In a statement, OGRA said any premises found storing fuel illegally — outside licensed depots or retail outlets of Oil Marketing Companies — will be sealed immediately.

Adequate Petroleum Stocks

The regulator assured the public that Pakistan currently has sufficient petroleum stocks to meet national demand and there is no need for panic buying.

Authorities are closely monitoring the petroleum supply chain to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across the country, especially in light of ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting global energy markets.

Nationwide Inspections Ordered

OGRA said provincial chief secretaries have been directed to instruct deputy commissioners to carry out inspections in their respective areas.

Regulatory teams are also conducting field checks at oil depots and petrol pumps to prevent illegal storage, profiteering, or supply disruptions.

Government Monitoring Fuel Supply

Separately, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said ensuring uninterrupted availability of petroleum products remains the government’s top priority.

He chaired a meeting of the committee formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to monitor petrol prices and supply amid the evolving regional situation.

Officials briefed the meeting that national petroleum reserves remain at comfortable levels, with adequate coverage for key fuel products.

Preventing Hoarding and Smuggling

The committee reviewed various supply and pricing scenarios and discussed steps to prevent hoarding, illegal storage, and fuel smuggling.

Authorities also examined measures to diversify supply routes and strengthen logistics, ensuring stable domestic energy supplies.

Officials emphasised that strict enforcement and real-time monitoring will continue to maintain orderly fuel markets across Pakistan.
