Government inaugurates e-taxi scheme – SUCH TV



Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated Pakistan’s first e-taxi scheme, including 1100 electric vehicles in the first phase, 30 percent quota for women and government assistance in down payment.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally inaugurated the e-taxi scheme, introduced for the first time in the history of Pakistan.

Details of the first phase
According to the government announcement, 1100 electric vehicles (e-vehicles) will be provided in the first phase. A 30 percent quota has been reserved for women empowerment in the scheme, while the color of the vehicles reserved for women drivers will also be different.

Financial facilities and government assistance
The government will pay 50 percent down payment for male drivers.

The Punjab government will bear 60 percent down payment for female drivers.

The government will also pay the fees for vehicle registration, fitness test and token tax.

The remaining amount will be paid in five easy installments.

According to the Punjab government, the aim of this scheme is to promote environmentally friendly transport, create new employment opportunities, and strengthen the economic inclusion of women.
