Livspace cofounder Saurabh Jain
Saurabh Jain, co-founder of Bengaluru-based home interiors platform Livspace, has stepped down from his role as CEO after more than 11 years with the company. The announcement came through a LinkedIn post in which Jain reflected on his entrepreneurial journey and hinted at plans to start something new.
His exit comes amid reports that Livspace has laid off more than 1,000 employees, nearly 12% of its total workforce. The company has not directly linked the leadership change to the reported layoffs.
Jain Reflects On A Decade-Long Journey
In his post, Jain wrote, “After more than a decade building Livspace, I’m stepping into my next chapter with pride in what we’ve created and clarity about what lies ahead.”
He recalled starting the company with a simple belief: “Home interiors in India could be built differently.” Describing the journey, he added, “What followed was a journey of conviction, resilience, hard calls, and extraordinary people. From early uncertainty to building a category-defining company, this experience has shaped me in ways I’ll carry forever.”
Jain also thanked the teams, partners, board members, and homeowners associated with the platform. He said he would “always remain a proud Spacer,” and expressed optimism about the company’s future. Co-founders Ramakant Sharma and Anuj Srivastava continue to lead the company.
Social Media And Industry Reactions
Industry leaders responded to Jain’s announcement with supportive messages. Founder Vaishali Sampath noted that building structure in an unorganised industry “takes real conviction” and said Livspace had meaningfully shaped the ecosystem.
Ashish Shah, CEO of Pepperfry, also extended his wishes, calling Livspace a “category defining business” and expressing confidence in Jain’s next venture.
Company Statement Highlights Contribution
In a separate LinkedIn statement, Livspace described Jain as a “cornerstone” of the organisation since its earliest days. The company credited him with helping transform the startup into a market leader and said his legacy is “woven into the very fabric” of the business.
While Jain has not disclosed details of his next move, he indicated that he is taking a brief pause before unveiling what he described as a bigger chapter ahead.
