Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation in India moved back into positive territory in December 2025, rising to 0.83 per cent, according to government data released on Wednesday. This marks a sharp reversal from November, when wholesale inflation had contracted by 0.32 per cent, reflecting easing price pressures at the producer level during the previous month.
“Positive rate of inflation in December 2025 is primarily due to increase in prices of other manufacturing, minerals, manufacture of machinery and equipment, manufacture of food products and textiles, etc,” the Ministry of Commerce & Industry said in a statement on Wednesday.
