Pakistan win toss, opt to bat first in opening Test against South Africa – SUCH TV

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first as they kicked off their campaign in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 with the opening Test of the two-match series against defending champions South Africa at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

For the series opener, Pakistan included Sajid Khan and Noman Ali in their playing XI, while South Africa opted for a spin-heavy attack, fielding three spinners.

At the toss, Pakistan captain Shan Masood said his team would look to make the most of home conditions and start the championship on a strong note. South African skipper Aiden Markram, meanwhile, expressed confidence in his side’s preparation, noting that the players were familiar with subcontinental conditions and ready for the challenge.

South Africa are touring Pakistan for series in all formats of the game.

The first Test is being played from October 12 to 16 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, while the second Test will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.
