Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest carmaker, on Thursday said it will cut vehicle prices by up to Rs 1.29 lakh from September 22, passing on the benefit of a GST rate reduction to customers.According to the company’s regulatory filing, entry-level model S-Presso will see the steepest reduction of Rs 1,29,600, followed by Alto K10 with a cut of up to Rs 1,07,600, Celerio by Rs 94,100, Wagon-R by Rs 79,600 and Ignis by Rs 71,300, PTI reported.Among premium models, prices of Swift have been lowered by up to Rs 84,600, Baleno by Rs 86,100, Dzire by Rs 87,700, Fronx by Rs 1,12,600 and Brezza by Rs 1,12,700. The Grand Vitara will cost up to Rs 1.07 lakh less, while Jimny, Ertiga and XL6 will see cuts of Rs 51,900, Rs 46,400 and Rs 52,000, respectively.Model-wise price cuts announced by Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki also announced reductions for other models, with Invicto down by Rs 61,700, Eeco by Rs 68,000, and its commercial vehicle Super Carry LCV by Rs 52,100.The move follows the government’s decision to lower GST rates on small cars and SUVs. Petrol, CNG and LPG cars with engines up to 1,200cc and length not exceeding four metres will now attract 18 per cent GST instead of 28 per cent. Diesel cars with engines up to 1,500cc and within the same length limit will also be taxed at 18 per cent.
