Feb 8 to be ‘day of salvation’: Siraj | The Express Tribune

PESHAWAR:

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday maintained that February 8 – the date scheduled for the next general election – was going to be a “day of salvation” for the nation as “anti-people parties” would fall flat on their faces.

“Dynastic politics is more dangerous than cancer for the nation and the country. Two families ruled [Pakistan] seven times, but instead of progressing, the country went backwards by decades,” he claimed while addressing a social media convention organised at Al-Markaz-e-Islami in Peshawar.

Siraj was accompanied by JI Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief Professor Muhammad Ibrahim, his deputy Inayatullah Khan and party’s provincial secretary general Abdul Wasay. He further said this ruling class itself owned billions of dollars. However, he added that the country’s debt stood at billions of rupees.
Siraj pointed out that currently, around 110 million people in the country were forced to live below the poverty line.

He added that these “incompetent” people were responsible for the country’s uncertain economic and political situation. The JI chief claimed that the future government in the country would not be formed on the basis of “favouritism”, but only on the votes of the people.

He accused the political parties of these two families, who had a “monopoly in the country”, of spreading corruption in the society. Siraj emphasized the youth’s opposition to the culture of “ignorance and nepotism.”

He urged them to reject the use of offensive language on social media and instead advocate for truth through constructive dialogue and arguments.
The JI chief expressed confidence in his party’s ability to lead the country out of its crises, asserting that the only viable solution for the nation is the Jamaat-e-Islami.

Siraj declared that February 8 would usher in new hopes for the youth and mark the success of the JI in the elections. The JI chief said Western countries supported Israel in its war on Gaza and it was because of the power of social media that France was now calling for a ceasefire there.

He counseled the youth to leverage social media as a tool for positive change. Emphasizing the true battleground as being between truth and lies, wrong and right, Siraj urged the younger generation to support the truth after a thorough understanding of the actual situation.

Asserting that the “scale” – the JI’s electoral symbol – embodies the essence of every Pakistani, Siraj highlighted its significance in the pursuit of a just and righteous society. He added that a day earlier, thousands of women in Bahawalpur had decided in favour of the “scale”.

The JI chief continued that today, the youngsters of K-P had joined the “scale” team. Siraj pledged that the JI government would not belong to any family and actually be the representative of the people.

He continued that because of the governments of the PPP, PML-N and PTI, the country’s 250 million people were deprived of their basic rights, including education and employment for youth. He continued that the youth were ready to hold these parties accountable on February 8.

The JI chief claimed that these parties had destroyed national institutions. He added that the PPP, PML-N, PTI, and generals were disloyal to the Constitution. “As a result of the flawed policies of these rulers, Pakistan has become a slave of the IMF [International Monetary Fund] and World Bank,” he continued.
