LAHORE:

Welcoming the organised retail sector’s endeavours to expand in the international arena, caretaker Federal Minister of Industries and Production Gohar Ejaz has assured them of maximum policy support as the sector plans to boost exports through e-commerce and setting up outlets abroad.

In a meeting with a high-level delegation of the Chainstore Association of Pakistan (CAP), the minister underlined the government’s pledge to continue consultation with the formal retail sector to facilitate exports.

He engaged in comprehensive discussion with the delegation, focusing on strategies and initiatives to foster export-led growth and enhance the overall business environment in Pakistan in close consultation with the private sector.

Expressing the government’s commitment to sustained economic growth and facilitating trade, the minister encouraged the CAP leadership to strive for higher export volumes through exceptional value-addition in branded products as well as ‘Made in Pakistan’ goods. He assured them of the government’s full support.

To facilitate entrepreneurs on the international stage, he directed the relevant authorities to ensure comprehensive assistance through the trade and investment officers posted in Pakistani missions abroad.

On the occasion, CAP representatives pointed out that the government’s decision of early closure of markets would prove highly counterproductive and came up with alternative measures to ensure balanced energy conservation.
