Recalling the incident, Sudha Murty said that Narayana Murthy as late for two hours as his taxi broke down. Her father, who was a professor, was quite particular about time and so by being late, Narayana Murthy failed to impress her father in the very first meeting!
“My father asked me about Narayana Murthy’s work and when he came he said that he wanted to join politics and open an orphanage. My father thought: ‘How much Narayana Murthy was earning?’, and ‘What his salary would be?’… My father thought highly of me as in those days not many women pursued engineering,” Sudha Murty shared.
Sharing his side of the story of meeting his father-in-law for the first time, Narayana Murthy added, “I was a bit playful and even a bit adventurous. I thought, ‘Okay, let him be angry.’”
