In a tragic incident on Sunday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district, a police officer was killed and three others injured due to an explosion on Malam Jabba Road, according to police reports.
Deputy Inspector General of Swat, Muhammad Ali Khan, said that a substantial police presence was dispatched to the scene, and rescue operations were underway. He confirmed that Constable Burhan lost his life in the attack, while Sub-Inspector Sar Zameen, Constable Amanullah, and Constable Habib Gul were among the injured.
The area surrounding the explosion has been secured, with police initiating a search operation to locate potential suspects. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Foreign Office states that today a group of diplomats traveling to Islamabad, after their trip to Malam Jabba and Swat, witnessed an incident.
An advance scout police vehicle was hit by an IED, resulting in a causality of police detail. Fortunately, the diplomats returned safely to Islamabad.
The Foreign Office further said our sympathies are with the families of the Shaheed policeman and three injured in the incident.
The Foreign Office said we honour our law enforcement authorities that remain steadfast in the face of terrorists. Such acts will not deter Pakistan from its commitment towards the fight against terrorism.
President Asif Ali Zardari has condemned the blast near a police van in Swat. In a statement today, he paid tribute to the martyred police officer and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
The President said terrorist elements are enemies not only of the country and the nation but also of humanity.
He expressed the resolve to continue efforts for complete elimination of terrorism from the country.
The President also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the explosion.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a police mobile in the Malam Jabba area of Swat district.
In a statement today, he prayed for a higher status in heaven for the police personnel martyred in the attack, and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
The Prime Minister also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel and directed that they be provided with all possible medical assistance.
Shehbaz Sharif said the entire nation salutes the sacrifices of the police force in the fight against terrorism. He said such cowardly acts cannot shake our resolve to completely eradicate terrorism.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also strongly condemned the shooting of Anti-Terrorism Force personnel in Zhob.
In a statement today, he prayed for higher status in heaven for the martyred personnel and expressed his condolences to their families.
The Prime Minister said the entire nation salutes the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed the nation’s determination to root out the menace of terrorism from the country.
