Did Britney Spears just fire shots at Blake Lively for wearing a Versace dress she made famous in 2002?
Just a week after Lively, 36, turned heads in the iconic dress on the red carpet, the Princess of Pop — the dress’s original wearer — took to her Instagram on Saturday to flaunt an “updated” version of the iconic dress, stating she prefers it “way better.”
Set to the tune of Your Love by the Outfield, Spears’ video shows her in a sparkling, colourful rendition of the dress, featuring skinny shoulder straps and side cutouts. She completed the look with nude pumps and minimal jewellery.
“I like it way better,” Spears commented on the dress, adding, “Shows my legs!!!”
The timing of Spears’ post led some fans to believe she was shading Lively, who had just worn the original dress to the It Ends With Us premiere in New York City.
However, Spears later updated her caption to compliment Lively, writing, “Updated version of my 2002 Versace dress !!! I’m no @blakelively but I like it,” while still emphasising her preference for the updated look.
