An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has issued bailable arrest warrants for Sanam Javed, a prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist.
The ATC was hearing a case related to rioting and arson, registered at Shadman Police Station in Lahore.
The court had summoned the accused to appear in person. Due to their absence, arrest warrants were issued for Sanam Javed and Rubina Jameel.
ATC Judge Khalid Arshad issued the warrants for both individuals.
Last month, a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Sanam Javed in a case registered against her in Gujranwala following the May 9, 2023 riots.
It must be noted that Sanam’s series of arrests continued even after her release from various courts.
Immediately after her release from Gujranwala jail, Islamabad police arrested her and handed her over to Balochistan police, who were taking her to Quetta. However, the Islamabad High Court had prohibited taking Sanam out of Islamabad.
