9th Monsoon spell likely to continue for next 24 to 48 hours: NDMA – SUCH TV

The 9th Monsoon spell is expected to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority, further rainfall is likely in the northern regions of the country during this period.

In the past 24 hours, heavy rains have been recorded in Narowal, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Lahore.

Under the influence of this spell, rainfall is also expected in southern parts of the country, including South Punjab and South Sindh, starting from Saturday next.

Coastal areas of the country, including Badin, Sujawal, and Tharparkar, are likely to experience intense rainfall.

Unusual rainfall and increased river inflows have led to flood-like conditions across various regions.

Between September 4 and 5, floodwaters from the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers are expected to converge at Panjnad, raising concerns of severe flooding in the area.

The NDMA further said that potentially affected regions have already been identified, and the respective Provincial Disaster Management Authorities have been informed in advance.

Residents of vulnerable areas are advised to follow instructions from relevant authorities and ensure their safety.

Unnecessary travel should be avoided in regions at risk of flooding.

Besides, around 5,700 tons of relief goods have already been distributed among the flood affected people.

All government agencies, charitable organizations, and the Pakistan Armed Forces are working jointly to ensure the delivery of essential supplies to those affected.
