Its recommendations will determine salary hikes and other benefits for over 50 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners, including personnel of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. (Image: Pexels)

The 8th Pay Commission will impact the salaries of India’s three armed forces, with the minimum basic pay for soldiers expected to increase by 25–35% after implementation.

The exact salary hike will depend on the fitment factor. Reports suggest the Union government may raise it from 2.57 to 2.86, which could boost the minimum basic pay for central government employees from Rs 18,000 to around Rs 51,480.

The 8th Pay Commission will benefit around 65 lakh pensioners, including retired Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel, once its recommendations are implemented.

Along with the revised pay scale, the dearness allowance for pensioners is expected to rise, providing ex-servicemen with greater financial security and enhancing their post-retirement income. (Image: Pexels)
