By India Today Sports Desk: Australian all-rounder Cameron Green hoped that Mumbai Indians’ thrilling victory over Delhi Capitals will kickstart their campaign in the Indian Premier League. Mumbai registered their first win of the Indian Premier League season with a final ball victory against Delhi Capitals. Needing 2 runs to win from the final ball of the game, Tim David pushed the ball to long off and the duo of Green and David completed a frenetic 2 runs. Green said that he expected the game to be won a lot earlier.

“Probably expected it (the game) to finish a lot earlier, but happy we ended up on the right side. I didn’t wanna cramp (while running in the last ball), took the helmet off and I knew there was two there and thankfully it came off,” Green said to the host broadcaster after the match.

Green combined with Tim David for a partnership of 30* off 19 balls, where the duo hit some lofty shots amidst a sensational Delhi death-bowling attack.

“The conversation (when I went to bat) was to hit 2-3 boundaries and thankfully it came off. There was definitely pressure there, but it was so much fun, to get ten an over, I mean it’s moments like these are what you wait for, hopefully this (win) will kickstart our campaign,” Green sounded elated after the match.

Cameron Green scored 17 off 8 balls including one four and a six in the final overs of the game. He was bought for a massive sum of money by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL auctions ahead of the 2023 season.

Green was put under the pump in the final ball, running towards the non-striker’s end, but said that he was confident that he could make it. He concluded by saying that he knew Tim David was going to make it to his end as well when David Warner’s throw went too high over the stumps.
