Courtyard By Marriott Aravali Resort’s Cake-Mixing Ceremony Sets The Bar For Festive Fun

Cake mixing is a tradition that dates back to the 17th century in Britain, where families would gather to mix dry fruits, nuts, spices, and alcohol to prepare for the Christmas season. The mixture would then be stored in airtight containers and used to bake delicious fruit cakes. Today, cake mixing has become a popular event in many hotels and restaurants, where guests can join the fun and enjoy the festive spirit.
We participated in the cake-mixing ceremony at Courtyard by Marriott Aravali Resort, which was held on October 15, 2023. Nestled an hour’s drive away from the hustle of Delhi, the resort recently played host to a delightful cake-mixing ceremony that left us with a lingering sense of joy and connection. The event marked not only the beginning of the festive season but also showcased the culinary prowess of the resort’s kitchen team. Executive Chef Shibendu Ray Chaudhury, the maestro behind the scenes, shared, “We used approximately 50kg of dried ingredients that included cherries, plums, tutti frutti, apricots, prunes, almonds, cashews, pistachios, orange peels, candied oranges, golden raisins, and black sultanas.”
Following the ceremony, the gastronomic journey continued at Glaze, the resort’s inviting Coffee Shop and Bar. The evening unfolded with a tantalizing array of cocktails, each concoction a testament to the mixologists’ creativity. From zesty citrus blends to subtly spiced concoctions, Glaze set the stage for a memorable night. As Shibendu Ray Chaudhury stated, “The response to the event was really good, which could be because people are now more confident about stepping out. Since our hotel is an hour’s drive from Delhi, it made the perfect weekend getaway for some who decided to stay back even after the ceremony.”
For dinner, we ventured into Huang, the resort’s Asian culinary haven. The menu, a harmonious fusion of traditional and contemporary flavours, featured dishes that were both visually stunning and palate-pleasing. From the delicate dance of flavours in the sushi to the robust richness of the stir-fried noodles, every bite was a celebration of culinary finesse.
